Swimwear Care Instructions

To protect the quality and lifespan of your handmade swimwear, please follow these care guidelines:

Tips:

  • Never machine wash or tumble dry.
  • Avoid rough surfaces, which can snag or wear down the outer fabric.
  • Rinsing your suit is not enough, you also must wash it. Rinsing is only to eliminate as many chemicals as possible until you are able to wash it.

After Each Use:

  1. Rinse immediately with cold water after swimming to remove as much chlorine, saltwater, sunscreen, and other residues as possible.
  2. Do not leave your suit wet in a towel or bag. Trapped moisture and chemicals can accelerate fabric damage.

Washing Instructions:

  1. Fill a clean sink or basin with cold water and a small amount of mild detergent (free from bleach or harsh chemicals).
  2. Gently hand wash your swimsuit. Avoid scrubbing, twisting, or wringing.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with cold water to remove all soap.
  4. Press out excess water by gently rolling the suit in a towel.
  5. Lay flat to dry in a shaded area. Do not hang by straps, and avoid direct sunlight or heat.

Why It Matters:

Swimwear fabric is made with elastic fibers (like spandex) that give it stretch and shape. Chlorine and other pool chemicals are highly reactive. They break down these fibers causing the fabric to lose elasticity, become thin, and eventually disintegrate over time. Heat accelerates this process, whether it’s from hot tubs, machine drying, or drying in direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure can cause fading, brittleness, and loss of fit.

Apparel

  • Do not use heat on items with screen printed designs.
  • Recommended to wash inside out with cold water and lay flat to dry.
