I started One Ocean after spending an entire year in school for dental assisting. I never saw myself in the fashion world (I wasn't even that into fashion!) but somehow I kept catching myself doodling swimsuits in class. Over winter break, I decided to try making a swimsuit out of boredom. No machine, I fully stitched it by hand!! It took me months to finally finish it but once I did I was hooked.

Inspired by my first suit, I decided to break out my moms sewing machine, order some fabric and just start.
Within days, I was teaching myself how to sew proper swimwear and by the end of the month was ordering my first serger!

The pandemic was such an impactful time in my life. I was stuck in a job I didn't like and suddenly we were all stuck at home. Living in South Florida, most of my friends were doing the same thing; soaking up sunshine with not much to do but tan and scroll social media. I decided to order a few new fabrics, and got to work. Before I knew it, word started to spread, friends were telling friends, and strangers were finding me online!

It was a long four-year road to 1,000 sales, but I’ll never forget that milestone.
Every single order felt personal, exciting, and hard-earned. This wasn’t some overnight success story, it was slow steady growth as I found my footing in the custom swimwear space.
One weekend in April 2023, after posting a Tiktok, so many orders poured in I had to close the website just to keep up! Messages of support filled my inbox and I hit the next 1,000 sales by the end of the year, faster than I could have ever imagined. It was wild, overwhelming, and one of the most validating moments of my journey. That "viral" moment introduced me to a whole new wave of ocean lovers who believed in handmade, sustainable swimwear just as much as I did !

The momentum didn’t stop, it lit a fire. I shifted into monthly swim drops to stay in control of orders. Suits started selling out within minutes, and I was blown away by the love for what I created!

Along the way, I began collaborating with artists to create exclusive marine-inspired prints, adding even more heart and individuality to One Ocean.

As the collections grew, so did the One Ocean family; returning customers, new ocean lovers, and supportive voices from all over. It became clear that there was a place for handmade, ocean inspired swimwear!

Reaching that second 1,000 was more than just a milestone, it was a reminder that staying true to my process (and passion for marine life) would always be worth it.

We're just getting started!! This winter, I’m focusing on creating ready-to-wear suits so you can grab your favorites even faster when swim season rolls around. Think: more availability, less waiting, same handmade care and quality.
